Please join us for the following talk:
A lecture and discussion led by John Simpson that will look at the ideas behind putting technology in children’s classrooms, how they have been deployed, what we can expect from them, and how they could be improved.
John is the founding director of Eurekamp, a children’s day-camp started at the University of Alberta. Eurekamp uses activities to generate philosoph- ical discussions among children as young as five. This successful program will be arriving at the University of Victoria this June alongside DHSI with a new program co-developed with the DHMakerBus team. This new camp program will focus on engaging children ages 8-14 with computer related making/hacking activities and ideas. John is currently a post doctoral fel- low with INKE and will be leading DHSI’s first computer programming course for Humanists who have never programmed before this year.
