This post is part of the Meet the ETCL Team series, which introduces the wonderful people who work in the lab and who have worked with us in the past.

Ishita joined the lab in May 2025 as a Mitacs Globalink Research Intern from Hong Kong. She will be working with the team until the end of July, contributing to the project “Digital Scholarship Internship: Canadian Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Commons and Digital Humanities Training.”

Originally from Bangladesh, Ishita moved to Hong Kong to pursue a bachelor’s degree in English and Applied Linguistics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Her strong interest in intercultural communication is reflected in her academic focus and extracurricular work. As a student assistant at the PolyU English Language Centre, she engages with people from diverse backgrounds, helping to build connections and promote cultural understanding.

Beyond her scholarly endeavors, Ishita actively engages in community-driven initiatives. Whether she’s serving as an ambassador at the Global Engagement Office, orchestrating memorable events for the International Students Association, or curating captivating content as the Production Manager of the “Red Brick Rubicon” podcast, Ishita’s commitment to making a positive impact is unwavering.

When she’s not immersed in her studies, Ishita finds joy in the simple pleasures of life. From relishing a delightful bubble tea to immersing herself in the world of mystery thrillers and experimenting with delicious culinary creations, Ishita’s diverse interests reflect a genuine curiosity and zest for life.
