“Websites should actually be living and breathing entities, that should expand and contract with their readers and their users. I feel that in e-commerce and online bookselling in general, the people have all disappeared; you can’t see the faces anymore….” – Kieron Smith, Managing Director of BookRabbit.com
Taken in the context of our application, PReE, this is added confirmation on how limited a dataset can be when it lives apart from a community – as Smith mentions, the world changes globally, politically, and socially far faster than any one person can manage. I think we also prefer to see articles as more than just text to be read – they could be a living discussion, fall under multiple categories, and be part of the patchwork of articles that narrate the life of an individual researcher.
