This week, we attended the SDH/SEMI conference at UBC. We presented as a team on our research on professional reading environments (PReE), with four poster presentations in all. Cara Leitch presented on the research she led in social networking tools, while our interface designer, Gels Saby, discussed the processes of interface design and the problems of designing to facilitate social networking. James Dixon, our lead developer, presented the current alpha demo, and the technical background behind our REKn crawler, which is meant to process metadata and to crawl the web to collect related discussions and information. I led the team with a discussion of the progress of PReE over the past three years, and what we have accomplished this year.
We all received some great feedback and suggestions. Thanks to everyone who attended!
