Ray was at Carleton University in Ottawa for the 2009 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences. He participated in a session titled “International Research Collaborations — Strengthening Quality, Connections and Impacts,” during which he presented on “Cultures Separated by a Common Language? Session Description: Participants will discuss the role of international research ocllaboration and its policy implications. The challenges as well as the opportunities for future innovative international research partnerships will be investigated. SSHRC programs, such as the International Community-University Research Alliances, International Opportunities Fund, Major Collaborative Research Initiatives, and the new Vanier Scholarships, will serve as examples.
