Dear All,
After a wonderful run last year, the ETCL Nuts & Bolts of Digital Humanities sessions are back!
This group offers an informal discussion of the day-to-day challenges of working on humanities computing projects. Last year’s sessions included discussion of starting DH projects, crediting digital and collaborative work, and considering the long-term future of DH projects. Everyone is welcome, from people who have been heavily involved in digital projects to those who are simply interested in learning more about the digital humanities.
Our first session of the semester will be (appropriately) led by Connie Crompton, who convened the Nuts & Bolts series last year. Connie’s topic, “Scaling Up: Developing Metrics and Milestones for Small Digital Humanities Projects,” is sure to generate lots of good questions and conversation. Connie is an assistant professor of Digital Humanities in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies at UBC-Okanagan.
Our first meeting this year will be at 4:00 on Thursday 27 September in the University Club Lounge.
If you are interested in leading a future Nuts & Bolts session, please send me an email off-list. We expect to have two sessions in the fall and two in the spring. Presentations are normally fairly short (15 minutes or so), often off-the-cuff, generally informal, and always followed by rousing discussion.
I look forward to seeing you there!
