The Nuts & Bolts of Digital Humanities
Using Omeka: Exhibiting the Archive Online

Entering into its third season, the 2013-2014 “Nuts & Bolts of Digital Humanities” series begins Thursday, 10 October at 4:00pm in the University Club Lounge. All are welcome!

For our first session, Dr. J. Matthew Huculak will talk about his experiences using Omeka to create the online exhibit, New Art in the New Age. Matt is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Modernist Versions Project and the Electronic Textual Cultures Lab at the University of Victoria. Our discussion will explore how an open source content management system employed by libraries and museums can be used by students and scholars to mobilize paper archives in new knowledge environments.

“Nuts and Bolts” is an informal discussion series led by guest DH experts and hosted by the Electronic Textual Cultures Lab. Each get-together offers a friendly atmosphere in which to discuss specific “hands-on” issues and topics relevant to projects in the digital humanities. The gatherings begin with the pouring of pints and a casual fifteen-minute presentation by our invited leader on a given topic. Lively discussion flows from there.

So do join us in the University Club Lounge, Thursday 10 October at 4:00pm, for the inaugural “Nuts & Bolts” of the 2013-2014 year!

Cheers,

Matthew
