Abstract: Collaboration is acknowledged as a key ingredient in many of the most successful digital humanities initiatives. But what does collaboration mean in practice, what forms can it take, and what is required to ‘scale up’ the activities of a research group or community to reach critical mass? This lecture reflects on the importance of building communities of interest and practice in digital humanities, in different settings – local, national and international – with a focus on the Australasian context.
