This post is part of the Meet the ETCL Team series, which introduces the wonderful people who work in the lab and who have worked with us in the past.
Jannaya joined us in January as the lab’s Coordinator. She manages the day to day operations of the lab to help keep the place running, provides various supports to the team, coordinates relationships, and helps plan and manage various projects and initiatives, including DHSI.
A typical day in the lab for Jannaya involves lots of email, often some accounting, reviewing the team’s daily reports, overseeing scheduling, and various other operational, planning, and project management tasks to support the lab’s educational and research initiatives.
In addition to helping organize DHSI, some of her current projects include developing a welcome package for other people who are new to the lab and continuing to get oriented to the various aspects of her own role. The Google suite of tools is the app she couldn’t do without, especially Google Calendar and Google Drive.
Although she hasn’t worked in the lab for long, she is enjoying the community at the lab and the variety of her work—every day is different. She is loving putting her project management, service, and organizational skills to good use in supporting digital scholarship.
Jannaya recently moved to Victoria from Halifax where she worked as a librarian doing reference and information services and program planning. When she’s not in the lab, she likes to go for walks, be in nature, play the piano, listen to music, watch various shows, and read. She’s currently trying to learn French and dabbling in Hardanger embroidery, and she loves to travel—she’s visited about 25 or so countries in South America, Europe, and North America so far and hopes to keep that number growing.
