This post is part of the Meet the ETCL Team series, which introduces the wonderful people who work in the lab and who have worked with us in the past.
Sajib joined the team in January 2022 as a Graduate Research Assistant and Communications Coordinator. He contributes to the lab’s communication activities across various online platforms. Currently, he is also working to develop one of the Lab’s current projects: Canadian Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Commons and will assist in organizing various online events hosted by the lab.
Sajib is a PhD candidate in Linguistics at UVic. His research is on the theory of Phonology with a specific focus on Bangla, his mother tongue. Before moving to Victoria, Sajib completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in English and a Master of Arts in English and Applied Linguistics and English Language Teaching at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh. Sajib has experience as a sessional instructor for the Academic and Technical Writing Program at UVic and as a digital studio and communications assistant for the Faculty of Education at UVic.
Sajib has an interest in technology-oriented teaching/learning strategies. He enjoys that working in the lab allows him to pursue these interests and further explore the digital humanities and open scholarship and ways to implement technology into learning environments.
Outside of the lab and when he is not engaged in his PhD research, Sajib loves listening to music and watching films. He likes all kinds of films except horror — but not because they’re too scary! He considers himself a brave person. Sajib is also fond of travelling and exploring the outdoors. He especially loves mountains and deserts.
