In response to requests for technical training in the digital humanities, the University of Victoria Libraries and the ETCL hosted weekly classes that provided a survey of some of the core methods, languages, and systems leveraged for digital humanities projects. The course included classes on project management as well as preservation and archiving practices; coding and markup languages such as HTML, TEI and Javascript; and content management systems such as Drupal and WordPress. Students from the inaugural cohort of DHSI During the Year will share their experiences from this survey course of technical skills for the digital humanities.

Join us on Tuesday Dec. 1 to discuss the place of technical skills training in DH, to examine the issues surrounding this kind of technical training in humanities settings, and to hear about the questions raised and insights gained by this year’s DHSI During the Year participants.
