Critical DH Group – All welcome!

Fall 2014 – Spring 2015

Based in part upon the public discussion of the concept of ‘Critical DH’ at ‘The Many Masks/Masques of Heidegger: Technology, Poeisis and Humanism: A Literary Theory Research Group Symposium’ (The Seminar for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, Vancouver Island University, Cowichan Campus, May 2014), Richard J. Lane (MeTA DH Lab, VIU) and Emile Fromet de Rosnay (Dept. of French, UVic), now invite the academic community to meet to discuss some of the theoretical interests sketched so far (see lists below). While these lists are obviously in no way exhaustive, they do form the focus for the first year that this group aims to meet.

We invite position papers of five to ten minutes on the topics below (or simply join us to hear the papers and hopefully join in with some discussion). Our meeting format will consist of short position paper presentations followed by discussion. We are open to theoretical considerations/presentations of DH projects underway, especially where such projects intersect with the concepts, methods, and/or theorists we aim to explore in our first year.
