This post is part of the Meet the ETCL Team series, which introduces the wonderful people who work in the lab and who have worked with us in the past.

Ansh started at the lab in the fall of 2020 as an undergraduate research assistant. He is a third-year computer science student at UVic interested in web development and open source, accessible technologies.
At the lab, Ansh’s work includes web server maintenance, ensuring the websites are regularly updated, and helping with technical planning to create software solutions. Right now, his projects include writing a Python script to automatically download referenced resources and change the references to the downloaded file to ease our citation management.
Working at the ETCL has given Ansh some practical experience in his field and has helped him pick up new skills. So far, he has learned how to safely remotely log in to different computers/servers using SSH, configure an Nginx web server, and build and maintain WordPress and Drupal websites and Regular Expressions, to name a few. He enjoys that he gets the chance to solve real problems and apply his skills and technological knowledge.
Outside of work and school, Ansh’s hobbies include music, reading, and playing basketball. He has also started a new project with a friend back in India, using some of the skills picked up in the lab. They are working on a website to share content about music and art that they enjoy. It will take the format of an online magazine with unique monthly content.
